Gapped Teeth Solutions

Beauty comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but one feature that all beautiful people share is a gorgeous smile – and if you suffer from gapped teeth, you may feel like your natural grin doesn't quite measure up. Of course, celebrities like Madonna, Lauren Hutton and True Blood's Anna Paquin have proven that gapped teeth can be endearingly lovely too, but if you would prefer a perfect, gap-free smile, you'll be happy to hear that you have several options to choose from. Here are a few of the most common solutions to the problem of gapped teeth:

Braces. That's right – traditional metal braces are one of the best methods for straightening teeth. Since gapped teeth result when there is too much room in between each tooth, braces work by gradually moving the teeth themselves closer together over time. While braces offer an effective, time-tested tactic for perfecting teeth, they also have several drawbacks. Most notably, they can be uncomfortable – especially after they've been tightened – and they are highly conspicuous, which may be of special concern to adults who consider the look of metal braces too “juvenile.”

Invisalign. If you're considering braces but you don't want metal in your mouth, consider trying these “invisible braces” instead. While the Invisalign system works in much the same fashion as regular braces, they rely on a flexible, see-through aligner instead of metal brackets and wires. In addition to being virtually undetectable when worn, Invisalign aligners are also removable for additional comfort and easier cleaning.

Porcelain veneers. This is the perhaps the most sophisticated option for fixing gapped teeth. While braces and Invisalign both rely on straightening and moving your natural teeth, veneers instead work by removing a bit of existing tooth enamel and placing a thin porcelain structure that mimics the feel and appearance of natural teeth over the top. This will give you a realistic – yet perfectly straight and gap-free – smile, without months of tightening and adjustments.

Lumineers. Like veneers, these are placed over your natural teeth for instant results; however, they are much thinner than traditional veneers, and don't require removal of natural tooth structure. Lumineers are also reversible, and can be installed in just two visits.
